Industrial equipment is expected to make up the bulk of the US’s computer equipment market by 2025.
The industry is expected by analysts to account for a larger share of the $2.2 trillion global market than any other category, according to a report from the market research firm Euromonitor International.
That makes it the most lucrative segment of the global computer equipment industry.
The new report predicts that the US market for industrial computer equipment will be down 7% in 2025, compared with last year.
The report, which includes forecasted hardware prices and other factors, is due to be released Tuesday.
Euromonitor said in a note to clients that the key reason for the decline is a decline in demand for computer equipment from the emerging world of the Internet of Things.
This has created a gap in demand, and has been driven by a combination of technological innovations and growing consumer demand for new products, the firm wrote.
This is a developing story.
